#GetTheJump Campaign gets AR Careers Fair on Snapchat

The Department for Education (DfE) via the National Careers Service has launched the #GetTheJump campaign. This campaign aims to help all young people to understand their educational and training choices to get them ready for the world of work.


To support this campaign the DfE has launched England's first AR (Augmented Reality) Careers Fair on the social media platform Snapchat.


The AR Careers Fair is running until the end of March 2022 and the AR lens spotlights technical education routes, which have lower levels of awareness. These include T Levels, traineeships, apprenticeships, and Higher Technical Qualifications. The campaign is supported by video content (created by Future Studios) featuring other young people's training and educational paths into their chosen fields. 


Why Snapchat? “We know from extensive research that young people like to hear from other young people, who they can relate to, about their own experiences,” ... “We know that Snapchat reaches 90 percent of 13-24 year olds in the UK so partnering with Snap was an obvious choice for the DfE. This campaign has enabled us to create a new and immersive way for young people to understand and engage with the education and training choices they have, in an environment native to them.” - Rebecca Thould, Head of Campaigns for Young People and Adult Skills at the Department for Education.


You can access the AR Careers Fair by opening up the Snapchat App, then selecting the "Get The Jump" Skills for Life icon on the Carousel, or scan the Snapcode. Once activated, users can enter the virtual Career Fair, and click through to the campaign website to get more information about the education and training choices and how to apply.
