"There are distinct advantages to a union working with a provider that has both standards, it's a win-win for everyone. The union can have confidence that we will be able to recruit learners on to programmes, improve the skill level of members, and develop good links with employers; learners get good outcomes; and our reputation for quality helps attract new business."

‘IAG?’
What is IAG? – Information, Advice and Guidance. Still non the wiser? Start to think in terms of ‘How can we offer the best help and support to our clients?’
With many organisations having to achieve accreditation to a number of standards, for other than altruistic reasons, i.e. funding, contracts etc, it begins to feel like an exercise in achieving standards, and it can become easy to forget about who the service is for.
The organisations that are successful, and give their clients the best service, are the organisations that ‘live’ the standards that they have achieved, rather than those organisations that use them as a badge. These organisations will also have a very clearly defined client group, and a clear idea of what outcome they wish to achieve with, and for, that client group.
In terms of the matrix Standard this means that, rather than just achieving the Standard then putting it in a cupboard until ‘the next time’, organisations should use it as a constant reminder of how good a service they were offering at the point of Accreditation to meet the Standard, and to try to reproduce that performance continually.
This doesn’t mean that they should become complacent, and only look at what they have at present. They should be looking for ways of building on what they have achieved, and to ‘raising their game’ to provide an even better service.
