Woodlands Training Services Ltd
Woodlands Training Services Ltd (WTS) began their matrix Journey in December 2007, a journey which took 18 months to achieve the Standard and a journey which still continues today. What had started as a one man business was now expanding and everyone was doing things slightly differently. Even the interpretation of technical knowledge criteria within the NVQ framework varied.
During this time, the team worked with a Registered matrix Adviser, who not only looked at the IAG aspects of their provision but all of the training provision being provided. They developed an interactive Training Aid which identifies all processes throughout a learner’s journey, clearly linking processes, procedures and documents at all stages. This is provided to all staff to ensure a consistency of approach and a greater clarity for everyone. This extended use of the matrix Standard to cover all of the company’s provision is the reason the company attribute to their achievement of Grade 2s at their very first Ofsted inspection – their preparation for Ofsted was the matrix Journey.
In their words, the matrix Standard has made them have a professional approach and given them confidence to expand. Since December 07 when Woodlands Training Services had 4 large customers, it now has 12 customers across the country. They have reduced the time taken to train assessors from 12 months to 3 months. Statistical data is now gathered to show breakdown of employees within an organisation which show gender and age profiles. By undertaking data analysis Woodlands Training Services is able to address inequalities in access to training.
